The Patriot’s Pen essay competition is open to all students in grades 6-8, and the 2019-20 competition asks students to examine the statement, “The 2025-26 theme is: "How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?"The national first-place winner will receive a $5,000 award. Typed essays are due to our post on Oct 31, 2025. More information online at https://www.vfw.org/VOD
Each level through post, district, state competition that an entry progresses through, will get a monetary award that increases as it passes to the next level up through VFW National level.
