Whilst we occasionally run ticketed Friday Night Specials, entry for our regular weekly Thursday club nights is on a first-come-first-served basis and unticketed and we do not take advanced seat bookings.
Entry for regular club nights is free, we pay our guests by way of a *CASH* collection. Whilst we understand that some simply haven't the means to make a contribution and absolutely DO NOT wish to exclude them, we expect those who can to make as generous a donation as they are able in recognition of our guest's work.
*PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATES BEFORE SETTING OUT*
Life is full of unexpected ups and downs, illness, weather and other unexpected things can spoil the best made plans. We may sometimes have to change our guest at short notice, or even cancel an evening altogether. To avoid disappointment please re-visit the relevant night's event for updates *BEFORE* setting out.
*PATRICK ROSE
Patrick Rose moved to Sheffield in 2010 to study Computer Science, and discovered the folk scene here. After throwing himself blindly into the Sheffield folk scene, he decided to record a couple of songs for posterity. During July 2011 he took the 30 Song A Day challenge going viral over Facebook and put his own spin on it not just taking the originals and linking to them, but also recording a cover using home equipment.
After that, he worked on creating a demo album (Himself) which was released in November 2011. The album contains self-penned songs, traditional tunes and was reviewed positively by Stirrings amongst others. He followed up in November 2012 with Paradise Square, a selection of songs based on Sheffield with positive reviews from Bright Young Folk.
Patrick has since been a finalist at the 2017 Wath Folk Festival's Young Performer's competition, and been a twice winner of the John Birmingham Cup Song Writing Competition category with "I lost my love" and "Stand up".
Patrick is interested in the traditional music of England and Ireland, not just for the music he enjoys singing and playing, but for the stories hidden behind the songs.
"Overall, this is an album which shows plenty of promise and good old-fashioned Yorkshire heart" - Lucy Houlden, Bright Young Folk reviewing Paradise Square
"The boy done good" - Raymond Greenoaken, Stirrings
"A lad with a great set of pipes and some cracking raise the roof songs" - James Fagan
"Like watching an old hand at performing. His playing demands attention" - Allen Wilkinson, Northern Sky
