Join Patrician Gallery for a magical four-week journey where young artists dive into the worlds of famous artists through story and hands-on creativity! Every Saturday, beloved storyteller The Storybook Mom—Chicago’s favorite—will introduce children to a new artist through a captivating storybook reading, followed by an art activity inspired by the artist's unique style.
This special series encourages children to explore, create, and express themselves in a fun and supportive environment, culminating in a mini art exhibition on the final day where they can proudly showcase their masterpieces!

Week 1: Mix It Up!

Theme: Imagination and blending colors, inspired by the playful rivalry between Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse! Kids will create their own abstract masterpieces.
Week 2: Art Is Everywhere!
Date: Saturday, December 7, 2024
Book: Uncle Andy's Cats by James Warhola
Theme: Exploring Andy Warhol’s world, kids will discover that art is all around them, whether it’s in a can of soup or a playful cat, and create their own pop art creations.
Week 3: Breaking the Rules
Date: Saturday, December 14, 2024
Book: Radiant Child by Javaka Steptoe
Theme: Inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, kids will break the rules and make bold, radiant creations, embracing the beauty of being unique!
Week 4: You Are Your Own Work of Art
Date: Saturday, December 21, 2024
Book: Who Was Her Own Work of Art? by Terri Blas
Theme: Self-expression inspired by Frida Kahlo, kids will explore their individuality and create self-portraits, celebrating what makes them special.

Nili Yelin, aka The Storybook Mom, is a professional storyteller with over 20 years of experience captivating audiences of all ages. Known for her performances with The Field Museum, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Nordstrom, Nili brings stories to life with a unique blend of comedy and creativity.
