Enjoy a Monday night with Wolf in a Lady Suit, Patresa Hartman’s most recent project. Hartman, backed by a full band, will present songs from the new album as well as revisit and revamp a few of the old ones.
Patresa Hartman is a Des Moines-based singer/songwriter, and Wolf in a Lady Suit is her third full-length album (Release Date: September 9, 2025). Patresa calls her style "soul-folk" -- characterized by a rich, blues voice; poetic, confessional lyrics; percussive guitar plucking; and jazz and gospel-tinged keys. Hartman has released 2 previous LPs (the only way down; Queen of Everything) and a handful of singles (including a cover of Joni Mitchell’s I Had a King). Evander Ellsbury (electric guitar) brings psychedelic rock electric guitar freestyling to his vibey solo projects (catch him at Porchfest on Sunday, September 7). Others will recognize him from Ames-based band, Eleven Moons (previously featured on the IPR stage at 80/35), and the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus. Steph Graham (double bass and harmony vocals) is a staple of the Des Moines music scene. Steph can be found fronting her own honkytonk band, River City Opry Band, as well as holding down the low end for the likes of Abbie Sawyer, Lily DeTaeye, D Smith, and Seth Hedquists’ Agrimusic. She spends her summers in the Wisconsin Dells playing with the Opry Chics and Wisconsin Opry, her family’s historic honkytonk venue. More info: https://www.facebook.com/RCODSM
Russ Tomlinson (drums and harmony vocals) is everywhere all at once. Many will recognize him from the Monday Night Live house band at xBk. Russ also plays (and often sings) with: Good to Be King (Tom Petty tribute), Southbound (Allman Brothers tribute), English, Tommy Doggett, Bonne Finken, and Jordan Messerole (just to name a few). Tommy Doggett (saxophone) released his instrumental solo project, Lines + Lineage, in 2023. He’s generous with his artistry, lending soulful saxophone to a host of projects – Courtney Krause, English, BYOBrass, the Monday Night Live band, Run Wilson, One Nite Stand, and Faculty Lounge. Amanda Drish (violin) originally started in classical areas, but her talent for improvisational play has extended more recently into her work with June Bugs DSM and new ensemble, Morgana Moon & the Dang Saints. Amanda also owns Larkspur Live Productions, an organization that brings live music to families and those with sensory needs. Learn More: https://www.facebook.com/junebugsdsm/
Sara Routh (opening act + harmony vocals) is truly singular. An engaging mix of Ella Fitzgerald and Jeff Buckley, this Iowa-born singer/songwriter has gifted audiences all over the world with energetic and heart-full performances. Sara embraces musical growth yet stays true to her jazz and folk roots. Learn More: https://www.sararouth.com/
