About this Event
Brass, strings, and singers come together for a program alternating large and intimate works from the four composers who held the title of Kapellmeister in Vienna between 1626 and 1680: Giovanni Valentini, Antonio Bertali, Giovanni Felice Sances, and Johann Heinrich Schmelzer. This was a time and place of immense musical change that featured a fascination with the fantastical as well as the sublime. Woven into the program are works by composers from Salzburg, with virtuosic chamber music by Heinrich Biber and glorious choral works by Johann Stadlmayr.
