To raise funds for “Read Easy” and to help adults in Britain today struggling with literacy, Giles Abbott, a blind storyteller, brings you an account of just how hard it can be when you can’t read the lines, let alone between them, in a gripping story of disadvantage and, ultimately, of healing.
It’s Ancient Britain. Two men, survivors of a disastrous war, travel home to pick up again with love, to start new lives until, one night, everything changes.
It’s Modern Britain. A young man is just beginning a new life with a new love when, one day, everything changes. What will they do now their lives have been so blighted? So begins a storytelling where myth meets the MOTH club, where one of the oldest stories in Britain, the Mabinogion, is woven skilfully with real life storytelling in a performance which asks, what do we do when the worst actually does happen? How do we survive, rebuild, and even thrive? Come to this magical, immersive, moving and even funny performance if you want to hear an uplifting tale of struggle and recovery.
Giles Abbott became a storyteller after sudden and severe, but not total, sight loss in 1998. This meant he lost his ability to read, recognise faces and more but he has since become one of the UK’s leading storytellers touring nationally & internationally with new shows created from ancient material, stories with their feet in the past and their eyes on the present. He is also a Voice Teacher and Voice Artist.
