We are thrilled to be bringing the Duck Fayre back to Patcham for its 5th year on Sunday 25th August 2024 on the Patcham Schools' playing fields. It is such a joy to bring people together to celebrate all that is good in Patcham and share the talents of local traders, performers, and artists.
As usual, entry to the fayre and the community centre is free, a particular bonus when everything seems to have gone up in price recently! We will have buckets out for donations if you can spare to help us put on next years fayre.
Once again the Brighton Belles WI will be running the tea tent where folks can sit and enjoy a cuppa. The very popular dog show is back, as will be the main stage with great singers, dancers, bands, and choirs performing throughout the day.
This year you must pay a visit RetroBution, the retro gaming group who are on the ground floor of the Community Centre. They will be bringing lots of old gaming consoles so you can show off your skill at Sonic the Hedgehog and other old games.
All this will be part of our aim to provide free entertainment for children and their families throughout the day, which we provide by way of the children’s marquee, circus skills and wandering entertainers. Our ‘find the ducks’ competition is back by popular demand and we will be selling our unique Duck Fayre tote bags and tea towels at our Duck Fayre stall next to the HQ.
My thanks as always, go to the Duck Fayre committee members who work tirelessly throughout the year and particularly during the 48 hours leading up to the big day. We are all volunteers who meet monthly to plan the Fayre. This year I want to highlight the work of Jenny Robinson, (our Treasurer) and Claire Montgomery, (media and publicity). Both work full time yet manage to organise all the stallholder applications, accounts, programme design, advertising, and media coverage. We couldn’t deliver the Fayre without them.
Thank you too to the High School and Junior School who let us use their fields and to the Community Centre who generously let us use their building for free.
Finally, can we remind you all to ‘waddle, walk or wheel’ by bike or bus to the Fayre and leave your cars at home, to avoid congestion in the area surrounding the schools and nearby streets. Here’s hoping for some sunshine – it’s the only thing we can’t organise on the day!!
