About this Event
This program hosted by Zest Commercial Food Hub, in partnership with “Bite and Beverage Culinary Academy” focuses on building culinary fundamentals, reinforcing food safety, and exploring delicious recipes. Under the guidance of professional educator Becky Dochstader and world-traveled and technically-trained chef William Miller, join us for "Pastry Playground: French Patisserie Made Simple," a hands-on baking bootcamp designed for teens and adults who are passionate about pastry. This is a 2-day program (four hours each day) with a maximum of 9 participants. Saturday, November 16th (4-8pm) and then Sunday, November 17th (10am-2pm).
Over two immersive days, you'll dive deep into the techniques, processes, tips, and tricks that make French patisserie both an art and a science. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you'll learn to create four iconic desserts from scratch:
- Éclairs - Master the art of choux pastry, create silky pastry cream, and finish with a luscious chocolate glaze.
- Madeleines - Bake these delicate, shell-shaped cakes with a tender crumb and a hint of lemon zest.
- Canelés - Discover the secrets behind these caramelized custard pastries with a soft, tender center and a dark, thick crust.
- Basque Burnt Cheesecake - Prepare this rustic yet elegant cheesecake known for its rich, creamy interior and beautifully burnt top.
