Suitable for beginners and improvers.In this workshop we will begin with a review of the different types of pastels available, hard pastel, soft pastel, pan pastels and pastel pencils, together with the different types of surfaces available.
We will use pastels to build up layers of vibrant colour to create a sunset painting on pastelmat paper. Learn how to manipulate the pastel to create texture.
Loads of tips, suggestions and recommendations along the way from Paul Holmes, who is an award winning local artist who exhibits across the country and is also a tutor at Higham Hall in the Lake District.
Bring an apron or old shirt (to protect your clothes) and if possible an A3 size folder to carry your completed work home. Bring pastels if you have them please. If you wish to buy some we uggest – Inscribe set of 48 half sticks – currently available from Jacksons Art Supplies for £11.30

it would be good to bring your own sunset photographs but Paul has some available to use if not, also a ¾ inch flat paint brush.
