A Madera native and the current Artist in Residence with the Madera County Arts Council, Crystal brings a unique perspective to her vibrant and emotive creations. Born with aphantasia, the inability to visualize images in her mind, she turned to drawing as an alternative to imagination. Through her observational approach, Crystal forges a deep connection with her subjects, transforming her vision into captivating works of art.Using soft pastels, Crystal employs quick, fluid line work and intuitive color choices, creating pieces that radiate energy and emotion. Her process embodies a dynamic interplay between the artist and subject, resulting in artwork adorned with vivid, expressive colors.
