With multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, and over 30 years of recording and touring history, Plena Libre is widely considered to be Puerto Rico’s most important plena, bomba and salsa ensemble and is a Latin dance party that can’t be beat. The group is touring 2024-2025 in promoting their recent recording Cuatro Esquinas and in tribute to the memory of their recently deceased founding artistic director – the master composer, bassist Gary Nunez. In honor of Gary, the group is continuing onward, adding to their 30+ year history, now with Gary’s son Luis Gabriel Nunez at the reins as artistic director of this historic ensemble.
