The workshop and performance are an innovative solution to the Catch-22 most musicians face while in the transitional stage between student and professional. By providing young musicians with the opportunity to perform principal roles in the second most performed opera worldwide we hope to fill the experience gap that serves as a roadblock for many young artists. We also hope that through their work with experienced professionals, young artists will gain valuable insight into the inner workings and standard practices of the industry in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The performance will feature stage direction by Arthi Nandakumar, and conducted by Gabriel Levy. Joining the cast are Ramon Gabriel Tenefrancia (Alfredo), Theodora Cottarel (Violetta), Olivia Ottinger (Germont), Blair Cagney (Annina), Erin Reppenhagen (Flora Bervoix). Ethan Ellis (Gastone de Letoieres), Isaac Hall (Barone Douphol), Ting-Yi Chen (Marchese d'Obigny), Bo Wang (Dottore Grenvil), Clayton Matthews (Giuseppe). The cast covers and ensemble will feature Julia Johnstone (Violetta Cover), Alexandra Olsson Andersen (Flora Bervoix Cover) and Kayla Thomas.
The performance will also feature an original reduction featuring Li-cheng Chen (violin), Oliver Costello (violin), Jack Rittendale (viola), Antonio Suarez (double bass), Daria Podorozhnova (piano) and Seiran Tozlian (piano).
PASS is a residency program focused on the creation and development of original works in dance, music, theater, and multi-disciplinary performance. Artists live and work in one of our historic cottages, with studio space available for the creation, development and presentation of new work. At the end of each residency, artists share their work in a public work-in-progress performance across the campus. PASS provides time, space, financial and curatorial support to incubate artists in the development of their work.
PASS: Performing Arts Salon Saturdays residency program is made possible through generous lead support from the Howard Gilman Foundation, with additional support from the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Snug Harbor is a proud partner with the CUNY Dance Initiative.
