About this Event

Caminata de los Altares

Date + Time: November 4th, 5:00-6:30 pm

Meet at: Coyolxauhqui Plaza 4108 City Terrace Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90063

The Caminata is the culmination of Paseo del Cempazuchitl // Safe Passage Along City Terrace Dr., a week-long participatory installation for the community to gather and to collectively remember and recognize lives lost along the corridor.

Paseo del Cempazuchitl is a response to recent fatalities due to unsafe traffic conditions along City Terrace Drive in honor of Dia de los Muertos. The street is a designated collision concentration corridor by Vision Zero LA County, meaning that it is one of the most unsafe streets in Los Angeles County.

During the Caminata de los Altares, we’ll see altars that families have created for their loved ones, hear their stories, and share experiences. The route also offers a view of the community-generated cempazuchitl trail, showing City Terrace locations where they feel unsafe or have experienced a near miss.

Please register on this Eventbrite if you’d like to join the Caminata. We will send you further details.
