Join us for an inspiring evening of art, music, and community! Celebrate our unique community with live music, live painting, and local art. Enter exciting giveaways for a chance to win prizes like tickets to the Colorado Ballet or a Denver Graffiti Tour. And don’t miss the live art auction showcasing works from talented NoBo artists in 2024!
Hosted by the NoBo Art District, a non-profit committed to supporting local artists, this event directly helps sustain Boulder’s creative spirit. We’re partnering with the Boulder County Arts Alliance and Roots Music Project to expand our programming to include a wide range of musical arts and performances, including members of MaSango, Riley J Band, Bateria Algeria of Boulder Samba School, Soung Flight Poetry with Beyond Academia, a live dance performance by Mi Chantli, and the Starjamme and live painting by Christine Stadnik Poteroba.

MaSango
Zivanai and Helen MaSango bring you an infectiously engaging
array of music from Zimbabwe and Southern Africa, as well as
the wider African diaspora. With Zivanai anchoring the duo’s
sound with drums, bass, keyboards and guitars via live looping…
Helen tops it all off nicely with various percussion instruments
and infectious dance moves. Their vocals bring it all together to
leave audiences uplifted and full of joy.

Riley J Band:
Creating a name for herself in the Colorado music scene, RnB vocalist, creative, and businesswoman, Riley J, has crafted a youthful six-piece RnB group, the Riley J Band. The Riley J Band has quickly grown to be a well-known Boulder, with regular performances with audiences of 100+ at venues in front range Colorado. Riley J, as a solo artist, released her second original, Not in Business, out September 20, 2024, on all platforms.

Mi Chantli:
Mi Chantli is a movement and arts sanctuary in Boulder, Colorado. Our main goal is to cultivate community and give dancers, poets and artists a place to be. We are also proud to say that this studio is Mexican/Chicano owned. Chantli is an Aztec word that means home, and the message that we are trying to share is that Mi Chantli es tu Chantli.

Sound Flight Poetry with Beyond Academia and the Starjammer:
Have you ever been bored at a poetry reading? Us, too! Fortunately, we have a reputation for having too much fun. Place your imagination in its upright position and immerse yourself in a playful realm of theatrical poetics aboard the Starjammer for a Sound Flight Poetry ride! Audience participation encouraged!
Beyond Academia (fiscally sponsored by Boulder County Arts Alliance), offers poetry and performance workshops and events. All of our programs are 100% free to the public, including a monthly poetry class sponsored by the Boulder Public Library, a monthly open mic “Sound Flight Poetry” at the Coffee Stand, and an annual 1 - 2 week Poetry Camp in Nederland.
Starjammer with Squiddius J. Madden:
The Starjammer: Avant-garde/dub reggae. Multi Instrumental. Collaborative. 100% improvised. Sound: an infinite frontier. These are the voyages of the Universal Sound Exploration Vehicle, Starjammer. Its mission is to seek out strange new melodies, seek out new grooves and sound experimentations, inspire imagination, challenge attention span, and boldly go where no one has danced before.
Squiddius J. Madden: Musician behind the Starjammer. Classically trained multi-instrumentalist, who currently plays saxophone for the bands Roka Hueka and Cipriano.
Bateria Algeria:
Bateria Alegria is the primary performing ensemble of the Boulder Samba School, composed of 20-30 percussionists. The ensemble plays percussion-based styles of music from Rio de Janeiro (samba batucada) and Salvador (samba reggae). The music incorporates a mixture of African, European, and indigenous influences and traditions. These styles of music are traditionally played during the carnival parades throughout Brazil and can be heard in Brazilian concert stages, dance clubs, neighborhoods, and soccer matches.
The bateria (percussion ensemble) is made up of a number of different instruments, including the surdo, (bass drums played with mallets), caixa (snare drum), repenique, tamborim, chocalho, and agogo bell.
