Grab your Valentine or your Galentine!Humans are highly social beings who need compassionate connection with others for optimal health and well being. Physical touch nourishes us on every level of our being, and is as essential as air, food, and water - it also provides soothing support for our nervous systems while connecting us physically and emotionally to others.
Loving touch and interrelatedness becomes even more vital during stressful times.
This Valentine's Day, come and enjoy two hours of completely uninterrupted and playful time with another human being. During partner yoga we will practice trust, communication, support and teamwork. We practice these things on the mat so that we can integrate them better off the mat.
We'll start with a few partner breathing exercises to help you connect with one another, then you and your partner will begin to build some heat in a nice long warmup that is very accessible. Plenty of options will be offered so that you can choose an intensity that is right for you.
After that we will begin to play with partner exercises and poses - if you're feeling up to it, we can play around with group poses for an extra challenge!
After a relaxing cool down we will have time to write down answers to some questions about ourselves and our partner. With the last bit of class left open to discuss your answers with your partner.
Partner yoga helps to deepen the impact of a yoga posture. One partner's body weight can be used to increase the pressure of the other partner, improves alignment, balance and posture. Your partner serves you like a mirror, to help you with proper alignment, balance and concentration.
*only one person per couple needs to register for class.
