About this Event
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This give-back project is suitable for kids ages 7+.
Kid Volunteers will play alongside adaptive athletes, from games like Sharks + Minnows, Blob Tag, wheelchair basketball as well as participate in a variety of drills to help these athletes build strength + fitness.
This is a great opportunity for awareness + empathy-building as well as to experience playing in a way that may be different than their average play day.
WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT:
This hands-on volunteer work will benefit Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports, specifically their JAWS program.
The "JAWS Program" (Juniors Active in Wheelchair Sports) is a wheelchair sports + fitness session for children with disabilities, their able-bodied siblings + families who can spend time together playing wheelchair games, sports + socializing with one another. The JAWS program is the only wheelchair sports after-school program in Tucson!
KIND NOTES:
This give-back project is suitable for kids ages 7+, who are able to play independently + can stay involved throughout the two-hour session.
Kid Volunteers will receive basic instruction on how to push wheelchairs prior to the start of the play.
A takeaway snack will be provided for the Kid Volunteers at the completion of the project.
Stay tuned for additional details to help you prepare for the day!
