“It’s Been A Party”: Gus and Woodrow of ‘Lonesome Dove’
Exploring A Classic Western Friendship
We’ll be reading ‘Lonesome Dove’, of course - “the ‘Gone With The Wind’ of the West”. This four-session group talk will focus on the professional partnership and personal friendship of Augustus "Gus" McCrae and Woodrow F. Call, first introduced in Larry McMurtry’s 1985 Pulitzer Prize winning novel. We will focus primarily on the text of the book, but some of the discussion will delve into the acclaimed television adaptation.
