Arts & Cultural Exchange presents Parramatta Literary Salon, a new literary event showcasing writers' body of work.
In November, we will feature the 2025 Stella Prize winner Michelle de Kretser in conversation with Yumna Kassab.
The in-depth conversation will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
Hellai Gul, a writer, poet and critic will read some of her latest poetry before the conversation.
About Michelle de Kretser:
Michelle de Kretser was born in Sri Lanka. She lives in Warrane/Sydney on unceded Gadigal land. An honorary associate of the English Department at the University of Sydney, she has won several awards for her fiction. Theory & Practice is her seventh novel.
About Yumna Kassab:
Yumna Kassab is a writer from Western Sydney. She is the author of The House of Youssef, Australiana, The Lovers and Politica.
Her latest book, The Theory of Everything, is available from Ultimo Press. Her books have been listed for a number of prizes including the Miles Franklin Literary Award and the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. She is the inaugural Parramatta Laureate in Literature.
About Hellai Gul:
Hellai Gul is a writer, poet, and literary critic. Living and working on sovereign Burramattagal and Gadigal country. Their work can be found in Sydney Review of Books, Cordite, Books+Publishing, in the 2025 anthology Nothing Rhymes with Orange, and more.
This event is curated by acclaimed writer Yumna Kassab in collaboration with Arts & Cultural Exchange.
Our local bookstore Dymocks Parramatta will have books for sale available on the night at Arts & Cultural Exchange.
