The program is for people with Parkinson’s disease. We encourage members to bring their family, friends, or caregivers to attend with them if desired. The program will include both a support group and exercise component. The support group will involve educational topics on LSVT BIG© and LOUD©, nutrition, mental health, benefits of exercise for patients with Parkinson’s disease, and more, along with free discussion time for members to meet others with Parkinson’s disease in their community. Exercise component will include a fun variety of activities for cardiovascular endurance, strengthening, mobility, and balance.The Goals:
-Create a community of support for patients with Parkinson’s and their families and/or caregivers
-Slow the disease progression of Parkinson’s disease
-Maintain functional gains achieved in physical therapy
-Education on a variety of Parkinson’s specific topics
-Empowerment for patients with Parkinson’s
What's Included:
-8 session program provided Thursday, once a month (April-November) from 12:00-1:00pm.
-Sessions last 1 hour, 30 minutes of exercise and 30 minutes of support group and various discussion topics.
