Music, like a foreign language, is best learned when young. The members of the Florida Youth Orchestra (FYO) are living examples, and a hundred of them will bring the inspiration of music to Plantation Heritage Park on Sunday, February 15, for the free annual ParkFest Love & Music Day. The FYO orchestra and special guest Nestor Torres, a Grammy-winning jazz flutist who’s also the orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence, will be the headliners, performing from 2:30-4PM, with FYO Chamber Strings the opening act starting at 1PM. David Oson will be the emcee.Other activities include food trucks, kids’ activities, the FYO’s Instrument Play Pen, and beer and wine concessions. This concert is set in an open green space, so bring your own blankets or lawn chairs. No seating is provided. Outside food, beverages, or coolers are not permitted. A limit of one backpack or purse will be in effect. Parking is $5/vehicle.
The rain-or-shine event is sponsored by the Parks Foundation of Broward County, Rick Case Automotive Group, Broward County Parks and Recreation, Hard Rock, Broward Community Foundation (Honoring the Broward Community Foundation’s 40 Years of Service), Centennial Bank, Broward County Public Schools, FPL, City of Plantation, and more.
