About this Event
The Badu Mangrove contains the largest stands of Mangrove Forest (protected estuarine vegetation) and Coastal Saltmarsh (endangered ecological community) along the Parramatta River estuary. A large amount of litter accumulates in this area during hide tide and after heavy rainfall events.
Sign up for a Clean Up Program session and assist the Park Rangers in collecting litter from these areas, while learning more about the value of these ecological communities.
Due to the fragile nature of the site, these clean ups are limited to 20 participants; we’d love to see you register your interest to attend this clean up.
Please note that the final fifteen minutes of the program is set aside to audit the litter collected. An informative exercise to help evaluate where the litter has started its journey.
Please wear enclosed sturdy shoes, long trousers, long sleeve shirt, hat, sunscreen and repellent. Participants are asked to bring their own pair of gloves and sun screen. Clean up equipment (tongs/picker) and collection bags are provided.
The meeting location for the Clean-Ups is next to the Education Centre (Bicentennial Park) under the Shade Sail. The closest carpark (and recommended place to park ) is P10F.
