Paris is Burning is an American documentary filmed in the mid 80’s exploring the world and lives of African-American, Latino, gay, and trans people involved in the ball culture of NYC.
The themes explored in the film include sexuality, race, class, gender, and the human condition. The drag ball culture of New York has long influenced fashion, dance, and society as a whole in America. This documentary is an invaluable slice of history and a celebration of humanity in all it’s struggles and triumphs.

“The San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1986.
The organization was founded by Robert Edwards (also known as “Papa Bear”) a local bar owner who responded to the medical and social crisis at a time when most were afraid to acknowledge the AIDS epidemic.
SAAF grew from a volunteer grass-roots effort and is now the oldest and most comprehensive professionally managed organization that provides services for those affected by HIV/AIDS in Bexar County and 11 surrounding South Texas counties.”
