"This human birth is precious. It is an opportunity to awaken."Parinirvana Day is the annual festival where we call to mind the final days and death of the Buddha Shakyamuni.
The day includes a special mettā bhavana meditation to remember those who have died in recent times. If you have lost someone in your life that you would like to commemorate, we invite you to bring along a photo of them, as well as a brief note stating their name and their connection with you. We will place their photo on the shrine and include them by name in the meditation.
Full programme for the day:
10–11am: Learn to Meditate
11.30am – 1pm: Going Deeper: Vision and Transformation
1–2pm: Lunch – please bring vegan/vegetarian food to share if you can
2–4.30pm: Mettā bhavana meditation followed by festival puja
You are welcome to drop in for individual sessions, or stay the whole day.
All sessions are offered on a donation basis, drawing upon the Buddhist practice of dāna – generosity. Please give what you can to support us to share the Buddha’s teachings more widely.
