Come and join us for a scenic hike to Pardubice — a town that smells of gingerbread and echoes with the spirit of the legendary Velká pardubická steeplechase. Nestled in the Labe lowlands, Pardubice is surrounded by peaceful meadows, leafy forests, and old canals that feel like part of a grand chateau park. It’s the perfect blend of nature and history.One of the city’s highlights is the Green Gate, a Renaissance tower that dominates the historic town center. Its façade features a stunning embossed relief by Mikoláš Aleš, showing the coat of arms of the Lords of Pardubice — a true piece of Czech heritage.
We will also visit the earliest crematorium in the Czech Republic, designed by architect Pavel Janák and artist František Kysela. The Rondo-cubist building from the 1920s is one of the most interesting examples of modern architecture in the city, and It also played its part in the famous Czech film ‘The Cremator’ (“Spalovač mrtvol”).
