About this Event

On Thursday, May 9th at 6pm, join Massy Arts Society and ILPS (International League of People's Struggle) for a film screening + discussion on class analysis. This event is free or by donation (suggested $10) with all proceeds going to ILPS.

About the film:

Parasite (Korean: 기생충; RR: Gisaengchung) is a 2019 South Korean dark comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho, who co-wrote the screenplay with Han Jin-won and co-produced. The film, starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Jang Hye-jin, Park Myung-hoon, and Lee Jung-eun, follows a poor family who infiltrate the life of a wealthy family. The script is based on a play Bong wrote in 2013. He later adapted it into a 15-page film draft, and Han split it into three different drafts. Bong said he was inspired by the 1960 Korean film and by the Christine and Léa Papin incident in the 1930s.

About the fundraiser: ILPS (International League of People's Struggle)

ILPS member organizations, including Anakbayan BC, support the global fight against imperialist plunder, war, and exploitation by the US and Canada in countries like Palestine, the Philippines, and others around the world. To strengthen our international solidarity, we would like to send a few of our members to attend two international conferences happening in June 2024: International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) 7th International Assembly and International Women’s Alliance (IWA) 3rd International Assembly. International conferences like these aim to unify the similar anti-imperialist and democratic struggles of peoples all over the world in order to facilitate long-lasting systematic change. We are fundraising to provide financial aid to our delegates traveling to Penang for their flights and conference registration costs.
