About Ghost Hunter's Shari DeBenedetti

Shari DeBenedetti was born in Schenectady, New York and moved to Boston with her family when she was 11 years old. She graduated from Lynnfield High School and attended Bentley University.

Shari became interested in the paranormal field at a very young age as she experienced many strange and unexplained things. But it wasn't until the age of 25 that she began to research and investigate the paranormal, because the house she lived in at the time was believed to be haunted. Shari and her family had many frightening experiences there. It was so bad that she was afraid to go into the house alone, not knowing what was going to happen next. That's when she decided to start investigating with her friends and eventually formed a team. Shari wanted to help others who were experiencing paranormal activity so that they would be comfortable living in their homes.

Whether for a client or for fun, over the years Shari has investigated hotels/inns, historical properties, cemeteries, forts, lighthouses, office buildings, apartment complexes, and restaurants.

About the Bell Inn and Tavern

This building, and the land it sits on, has a rich history that predates the founding of this country. Built around 1740, the original building on this property was The Bell Tavern, a colonial gathering spot that became a place of controversy and legend.

Local minutemen gathered in the courtyard (just steps from where you are now) before marching off to fight in the battles of Lexington and Concord, igniting the war of independence. The Tavern remained a notable central meeting location during the entirety of the American Revolutionary War.

This space also served as the backdrop for one of America’s first tabloid scandals:The bestselling novel, “The Coquette or, The History of Eliza Wharton” by Hannah Webster Foster, originally published anonymously in 1797, was set right here.

In the 1890s, a gentleman by the name of J.B. Thomas acquired the site and constructed this mansion for his grandson. Thomas made sure the home was designed with all the elegance of the time period, complete with a carriage house. The property served as the family home for nearly two decades until it was sold to the O’Shea Family.

The historic property has since changed hands many times and had multiple lives, including as locally-owned furniture store and as the home of the nonprofit, Pioneer House. The property then sat vacant for several years until local developer Eddie Greeley and restaurateur Jeff Cala were brought in with a vision to restore its former elegance.

Bringing this beautiful mansion back to lifeis a responsibility we don’t take lightly, and we are honored to be part of this community.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s our goal to make you feel at home here at The Bell Inn and Tavern. We have this idea that delicious food, good company, and a cozy place to rest your head will do the trick.
