🔻 The Year of Parajanov is ending and the Century of Parajanov is beginning ‼️
In Tbilisi, the birthplace of the genius of cinema, the Century of Parajanov begins with the premiere of Yerevan State Pantomime Theatre's performance "Return", staged for the 100th anniversary of Sergey Parajanov. The performance is based on the screenplays of S. Parajanov "Confession" and "Ara the Beautiful". The director is the Honored Artist of Armenia Zhirayr Dadasyan
The performance was created specifically for showing in the Sergei Parajanov House Museum in Yerevan, which recreates the atmosphere of an old Tbilisi courtyard. For the first time, the performance will be shown outside the director's Yerevan house-museum in Tbilisi - in the unique closed space of the Palace of Solemn Rituals, which also recreates in all its color a typical Tbilisi courtyard, filled with the atmosphere of the middle of the last century

The screenplay "Confession" is a living picture of the life of Tiflis-Tbilisi in the early 30s. The author remembers his neighbors. One of them has a daughter dying of an incurable disease. A strange neighbor-policeman is in love with a ballerina. Another neighbor buys his wife an expensive fur coat, but she cannot wear it in front of everyone to avoid confiscation: only when it snows, the neighbor's wife secretly enjoys her fur coat on the roof at night to the sounds of Malkhaz's aria from the opera "Daisi" playing on the radio, while her husband makes a horse figurine out of wood, for some reason without legs. Time moves back...
The Armenian king Ara the Beautiful returns to Armenia from Assyria, where he met Princess Semiramis and now cannot forget her. At home, his Princess Mother and pregnant wife Nuard are waiting for him. But Semiramis has not forgotten the Armenian king either. She passionately desires to get him and enjoy the body of the beautiful Ara in her chambers. Ara rejects Semiramis, and then Assyria goes to war against Armenia. King Ara dies during the battle, and then a knight appears on the battlefield who fights Semiramis. Semiramis knocks the knight off his horse, and then the Princess Mother appears and also rushes into battle. Semiramis runs away in confusion, leaving the battlefield. The Princess Mother lifts the knight from the ground, removes his helmet and discovers that it is Nuard. The princess begins to give birth - the heir of King Ara is born
Throughout the performance, the Author himself watches from the balcony, worrying about the heroes. In the end, he joins his heroes. The story that began with death ends with birth
