This film is the true story of 'Papusza', the distinguished Polish-Gypsy poetess Bronislawa Wajs.
It follows Papusza’s life from birth to old age; including her life in a gypsy tabor before, during and after WWII, and then settlement in Poland. Her meeting with the Polish poet Jerzy Ficowski, who discovered her great talent for poetry .
