About this Event
This class will help students explore the intricate world of paper quilling, an ancient crafting technique that has been appreciated by cultures across the globe for centuries.
In this two hour class, basic paper quilling techniques will be taught via a hands-on paper art project developed by local paper artist, Amy Blumke. Students will roll strips of paper into coils and spirals then manipulate the paper into more complex shapes which will allow students to create a beautifully intricate Valentine's Day Card that students will bring home with them after the class.
All tools and materials will be provided by the instructor, but feel free to bring your own tools if you prefer to work with them.
While not required, I highly recommend reviewing at least one of the following videos before class in order to help you pick up on the techniques demonstrated during class more quickly. The videos cover the tools and materials required for paper quilling, as well as techniques used to make tight and loose coils, the foundational shapes of the artform. The first video is 10 minutes long, the second video is 30 minutes long.
