Calling all people, creatures and Mad Hatters of Wonderland! We want to see you auditioning for this year’s panto – ALICE IN WONDERLAND!
Character List
The Knave Of Hearts – a baddie and attendant to the Queen
Cheshire Cat – the good character that leads us through the show
Alice – the heroine and the dreamer of Wonderland
Sister – Alice’s sister, sensible, read’s the book “without pictures or conversations”
The White Rabbit – the comic character and the first creature Alice sees in Wonderland.
The Duchess – the dame of the show
Caterpillar – a Wonderland creature
Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee – A comedy duo
The Mad Hatter – Zany, crazy character – lots of energy
March Hare – Friend of the Mad Hatter
Dormouse – Dozy and loveable
Mock Turtle – a Wonderland creature
Queen of Hearts – the baddie who is bossy, overbearing, always wants their own way
King of Hearts – a timid, character, dominated by the Queen of Hearts
Knobby The Door – the door that leads to Wonderland
Ace, Three & Seven – playing cards
Adult Chorus*
All auditions will include acting, singing and dancing.
Anyone auditioning for a named role, please prepare either two musical theatre or Disney songs.
*Those auditioning for adult chorus only do not need to prepare a song.

Please note: the People’s is an amateur theatre company so no cast or crew are paid to be involved.
People’s Panto rehearsals tend to start in October. Depending on your role, there may be some flexibility of how often you are required to attend but this is at the discretion of the director. If you wish to get involved in this production and are not yet a member, we will ask you to become a provisional member at the audition. You need to contact [email protected] before the audition day to arrange this.
Provisional membership costs £10 (payable card or cash). More information about being a member can be found at https://www.peoplestheatre.co.uk/uploads/peoples_theatre_welcome_info.pdf
If you are cast, you will be required to become a full member to accept the role and take part. Full membership costs £55 per year (£35 for people aged 65+, students or unwaged). Membership can be paid in full, or in quarterly instalments via Standing Order.
The People's Theatre are committed to having a more diverse membership. We want to better reflect the communities that live in the North East. For example, all plays are cast as gender neutral and we are keen to welcome more people from black and minority ethnic communities.
There are lots of roles to get involved with, backstage, and front of house as well as on the stage. We’re a supportive community theatre where you’ll learn new skills, meet new people, and have lots of fun.
