The Panorama Queer and Trans International Film Festival returns to the Peabody Essex Museum this January! This festival celebrates young trans and queer filmmakers, both in front of and behind the camera. Panorama welcomes members of the trans and queer communities, allies and fans of new cinema from all around the world!
This year, Panorama’s theme is Resilient Creations, which the organizers describe as “a celebration of the art, spirit and defiance that define queer storytelling. In a year marked by political travesties and ignorant administrations, our festival stands proudly in its punk roots: unbothered and unbreakable.
“To be trans and queer is to be creative and to invent joy in the face of oppression, to find beauty in survival and to turn rebellion into art. Resilient Creations is a testament to the filmmakers, performers and storytellers who continue to create, connect and celebrate even when the world feels heavy. Each project screened this weekend carries its own rhythm of resilience, amplifying stories that refuse to be silenced and voices that refuse to fade. Art, in all its global forms, is one of the most radical acts of resilience there is. So this weekend, we invite you to lean into the noise and the power of creation. Together, we celebrate not just survival, but the unstoppable force of queer joy.”
Kick off the festival with us on Friday night with a special queer community gathering. Evening programming includes an opening reception event, networking and select film screenings with special guests. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, enjoy film screenings and additional programming.
More information about the films and filmmakers will be added soon.
Please note: These films are not MPAA-rated; provided ratings are suggestions from Queer Videography. Please enjoy at your own discretion, and note that some films may not be suitable for children.
