Itinerary:
D1, KL- Auckland
Take the international flight to the largest city of New Zealand- Auckland.
D2, Arrive Auckland (D)
After landing in Auckland international airport, meet with our team in the airport. We will take about 45min bus ride to the hotel which just beside the sky tower and casino. After check in the hotel, we will have our welcome dinner in one of most famous restaurants in the city, offer a collection of some New Zealand most famous dishes which give you a ‘brief overview’ of beautiful gourmet experience you are expecting in New Zealand. There will be free time after dinner, you can explore the casino or waterfront with the night view and have a good rest.
D3, Auckland (BLD)
After a nice buffet breakfast in the Grand SkyCity hotel, we will take the elevator up to the top of the Auckland Sky Tower to enjoy the full view of the city, you have opportunity to take some awesome photos there. And then, a short walking tour will take you to the Auckland waterfront, we will appreciate the beautiful harbor view and historical buildings in the heart of Auckland. A nice Asian style lunch with typical NZ ingredients will be served in the restaurant on the harbor side, we can enjoy the high-quality NZ food with home cooking, while surround by amazing Auckland harbor scenery. After lunch, drive across the Harbour Bridge to tour other side of the city. We will drive along the suburb of Ponsonby, take a stroll at Devonport’s Narrow Neck Beach. Back to hotel after dinner and stay overnight in center Auckland.
D4, Auckland-Hobbiton-Rotorua (BLD)
We will say goodbye to Auckland and heading to Rotorua after lunch, visit the hometown of Hobbits-Hobbiton movie set depicted in the Lord of the Ring on the way. You can fully seek into the magic world of middle earth created by Lord of the Ring while taste some nice beer in the Hobbits bar. After that, we will arrive Rotorua-the hot spring town and center of Maori culture. After check in a hot spring resort in Rotorua, we are going to visit Tamaki Maori village to experience Maori culture and try Maori traditional food. Tamaki Maori village is a well-organized culture experience by local Maori tribe and was rated as top 10 experience in the world. The village located in the 200-year-old ancient Tawa forest, you will be invited to participant in to learn the singing, dancing, and share the Maori spirited way of life. A Maori style buffet will be served as the dinner of the day, food was cooked in a very special way in the local hot spring, you can also learn the ancient way of Maori people to living with the local Geothermal resources. Back to hotel to enjoy the in suit hot spring after visit the Tamaki Maori village.
D5, Rotorua-Geothermal valley – Huka prawn park – Lake Taupo. (BLD)
A fully rest after hot spring may give you plenty of energy for today’s exciting activities. In the morning, we are going to visit the geothermal valley near Rotorua, you will see colorful thermal pools, fountains, lakes inside the valley. Huka falls will be the second spot we will visit today, however the most important activities are not for the falls but the prawn park. Beautiful blue prawns were feed in the clear water from the Huka falls, you can try prawn
fishing here and learn about how to feed the prawns. For lunch, we will taste prawns in three different ways: steam with garlic, butter, and boiled with sauces. Prawns are super fresh and full of flavors; you may remember it for a long time. A short walk on the lake side of Taupo will make you quite relax, and then embark on more than 100 years old Ernest Kemp steam cruise, sail on beautiful Taupo lake to see mysteries Maori Rock Carvings. With a cup of tea or coffee, relax and enjoy the lake view. We will back on share after 2 hours cruise ride on the lake Taupo, have dinner and stay in a lakeside accommodation in Taupo.
D6, Lake Taupo—Waitomo Cave—Hamilton (BLD)
In the morning, we will visit the most special McDonald in the world-Taupo McDonald, which was built in a WW2 C47 passenger plane! We will have breakfast in this very special McDonald, and then take one and half hour’s bus ride to Waitomo region, and then visit the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. New Zealand is the only place in the world found this kind of glowworm, which is much bigger than the firefly and appear deep blue color. We will be trekking deep into the underground caves, and then take boat on an underground river to experience this unique view, which like an underground galaxy. After lunch near the cave, a 40-minute bus ride will take us to an English style city—Hamilton. A present walk in the Hamilton garden will be very good for your healthy, this garden is a collection of gardens from many countries, very boutique and beautiful. Dinner will be served in a New Zealand— Malaysian restaurant ‘Madam Wu’. We will stay in hotel in Hamilton.
D7, Hamilton-Auckland airport-Wellington (BLD)
After a typical style of New Zealand breakfast, 1-hour drive will take you back to Auckland airport, after another 1- hour flight, you will arrive the capital of New Zealand—Wellington. Wellington is the film capital of New Zealand, most of the ‘Lord of the Ring’ movie was made there, you can see a huge Gulu statue in Wellington airport. Wellington is also a beautiful harbor city. We are going to visit the New Zealand Parliament and then take historical wellington cable car to the top of Kilburn lookout to see the picturesque Wellington bay. Have dinner in a seafood restaurant and stay overnight in the hotel in city center.
D8, Wellington—Picton (BD)
In the morning, we will visit the wellington waterfront and National Museum. As one of the best museums in New Zealand, the National museum shows all aspects of the country. We will board on the interisland ferry ship after lunch and take a scenic sail across the cook strait from Wellington to Picton on the South Island. The ship will sail through the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound, it is a good time to take many nice photos on the outer deck. After about 3 hours journey on the sea, we are going to landing on the South Island about dinner time. Dinner will be in Picton town, and we will stay in a hotel near the bay.
D9, Picton—Kaikoura fishing tour—self cooking sea food feast (BLD)
After breakfast in the best pie restaurant in town, we will start a beautiful road journey to the famous seaside town of Kaikoura. A scenic drive on the “Alpine Pacific Scenic Route” before reach Kaikoura is really impressive, you will see snow mountain range on one side and blue Pacific Ocean on the other. you will also have chance to see many baby seals playing on the rocky coast. In the afternoon, we will embark on a nice fishing boat and start our fishing journey. Some cages will be thrown into the shallow seabed just after the boat left the pier, and then we will be heading to deeper sea trench to fishing. You may catch some groupers, cods, perches or even sharks during one- hour deep sea fishing, somebody may get seasick but it’s full of fun. On the way back to the pier, we will harvest the cages of crayfishes, after checking the size of the crayfishes, keepers will be share by every guest. We are going
to check in the vacation house equipped with full kitchen, and dinner will be cook by everyone together with harvests of the day include pipis, groupers, perches, cods and crayfishes! A Kaikoura seafood feast!
D10, Kaikoura—Whale watching—Christchurch (BLD)
In the early morning, we will take you to the pier to embark on the whale watching cruise. Kaikoura is famous for its sperm whale watching tours. The sailor on the cruise will use sonar to locate the whales and just stop the cruise right beside where whales will up to the surface. You my experience the nearest whale watching in your lifetime, sometimes only less than 20 meters! On the way back, sometimes we can also encounter some cute dolphins, they will play around the cruise and interacting with the people on the cruise. After lunch, we will say goodbye to Kaikoura and continue our way on “Alpine Pacific Scenic Route” to Christchurch. We will arrive Christchurch in the late afternoon, visit the Cathedral square and Avon River, and then have dinner in the riverside food market. Stay overnight in Christchurch.
D11, Christchurch—Tekapo (BLD)
We will say goodbye to Christchurch in the morning. About 2.5 hours’ drive along the “Inland Scenic Route” will take you to a New Zealand high country. We will arrive Lake Tekapo around lunch time. After check in the lake view apartment, we are going to have a present lakeside walk to appreciate this beautiful glacier lake. We are going to have a special hot spring arrangement in the late afternoon, you will have chance to experience hot spring by the snow. Lake Tekapo is one of the best places in the world for star watching, you can easily see the galaxy from balcony of your apartment.
D12, Lake Tekapo—Mt. Cook Village (BLD)
A present morning walk on the Tekapo lake side will make you full of energy for the day. After a short drive, we will arrive the Pukaki lake—the most beautiful blue lake in New Zealand. Water in Pukaki lake coming from the glacier of Mt. Cook—the summit of New Zealand, the color in the lake looks like sapphire under the clear sky, with the view of Mt. Cook on the background. We will arrange two short trekking for you in the Mt. Cook National park to see the Tasman Glacier Lake and Mt. Cook itself (if weather is good). We will stay in the beautiful Mt. Cook village.
D13, Mt. Cook Village—Twizel—Arrow town—Queenstown (BLD)
We will leave Mt. Cook village in the morning and heading to Queenstown. We are going visit a working salmon farm after visit Pukaki like side. Crystal clean water from Ohau lake was used to feed the salmons, you can learn about the salmon, and birds living on the highland. Salmon were prepared in different ways include sashimi, sushi, grill, and fry for tasting and you may remember this for a long time. We will continue proceed after to Arrow town which is famous for the Gold Rush and beautiful view. Have a present walk and some picture time of this little town, see the Chinese relics during gold rush. Rest of the afternoon is the free time for you to enjoy this live cute place, you can do some shopping on the street or have some drink in the bar on the lake side.
D14, Queenstown (BLD)
We will have a relax morning in this most beautiful lakeside town, you can freely walk around the town center, lake front, or Queenstown garden nearby. Before lunch time, embark on the 100-year-old lake cruise TSS Earnslaw— The only steam cruise in South Island which still use coal as the fuel. Half hour scenic journey will bring us to the other side of lake Wakatipu. Once at the lake side Walter Peak high Country Farm, local chef will provide the best of local produce sizzling away on the grill for you. Seating in the colonel’s homestead at Walter Peak High Country Farm which overlooking Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown’s alpine scenery, taste the delicious wood fired BBQ, will be one of the best experiences in your life. Experience some interesting highland farm activities after lunch, and then we will back to the cruise TSS Earnslaw and sail back to Queenstown.
D15, Queenstown (BLD)
A 50min scenic drive will take us to visit beautiful small town of Glenorchy and Paradise, the place filmed most of “Lord of the Ring” movies. We will do some light trekking in the picturesque valley between snow mountains, fully enjoy this unique place. We will back to Queenstown with may photo stops on the way. Before sun set, we are going to take the skyline cable car up to the top of Queenstown, overlooking the full view of Queenstown. Stay in Queenstown overnight.
D16, Queenstown—Milford Sound—Te Anau (BLD)
We will take a day trip drive across the snow peaks and through the native forest to visit Milford Sound—One of the World Natural Heritages and most beautiful Fjord in Fjord land national park. The scenic drive is about 1.5 hours each way, and we will make photo stops on the way to visit mirror lake, glacier valley and historic trennel. After we arrive the Milford harbor, we will get on a scenic cruise and have a 2 hours sailing around the Milford Sound. Waterfalls hanging on the thousand meters high cliff, seals laying on the rock, dolphins jumping infront of boat, this is the time for you to connect with nature. A packed lunch will be served on the cruise and we will drive back to Te Anau after the cruise journey and stay in this quite lakeside town.
D17, Te Anau—Wanaka (BLD)
Say goodbye to the lovely lakeside town, we will drive to Wanaka in the morning. On the way, we are going to have many photo spots on the Wakatipu lake side and along the Kawarau river valley. We will observe or try one of the most famous Bungee Jumping in the world in the Kawarau Gorge. During lunch time, we will visit the only wine cave in New Zealand—Gibbston Winery. You will have opportunity to go inside the cave, and taste 3 different kinds of local wine from Central Otago with a lovely lunch platter provide by the cellar door restaurant. We will arrive Wanaka town in the afternoon, you will have some leisure time after check in the hotel.
D18, Wanaka (BD)
Wanaka is a lakeside town famous for its outdoor activities. Today, you will have many options to try unique experience in New Zealand include parachute jump; paragliding; learn to fly; classic flight experience by many kinds of planes from WW1 propeller to jet fighter; helicopter flight; deep Canyoning through waterfalls; Canyon jet skiing. All of those activities will be booked in advance by our service team. Wanaka gourmet kitchen will be the place for dinner, you can try a collection of local lamb or beef with unique way of cooking—on a stone board. Without too much sauce, this kind of cooking keep the most of original flavor on the high-quality New Zealand fresh lamb or beef. Hot stone locked the juice inside the meat and make it taste juicy and tender.
D19, Wanaka—Fox Glacier (BLD)
A day tour take you travel from New Zealand high country to west coast. We will start from Wanaka town, drive across the mountains between east and west coast. Many scenic spots on the way such as waterfalls, forest walks, and beautiful lookouts. You will also experience a change of climate from dry high-country grassland to humid west coast jungles. Our destination Fox Glacier located on the west face of Mt. Cook and go towards the sea, is where we called “the ice meets the ocean”.
D20, Fox Glacier—Helihike—Hokitika (BLD)
In the morning, if weather is good, is the opportunity for you to do the unique activity in the world: “Glacier Heli hike”. This is an optional activity but a once in the lifetime experience. You will take a short flight by Helicopter from Fox Glacier town, and landing on the For Glacier. A professional glacier guide will take you do one-hour interesting hiking on top of glacier. You will experience ice caves, small ponds, and walking on the ice (with suitable equipment and training). And then, helicopter will come to pick you up and fly back to Fox Glacier. In the afternoon, we will visit the Hokitika gorge and historic town Hokitika later. Relax on the Hokitika beach and enjoy the leisure of New Zealand west coast.
D21, Hokitika—Author’s Pass National Park—Christchurch (BLD)
Today we will start from Hokitika travel towards east along “The Great Alpine Highway”. Arrive Author’s Pass National park in about one hour, we will do some trekking to visit the waterfalls and forest walks there. Great scenery all the way, and the highlight of the day will be the Castel hill, massive rocks from the Glacier age, is also one of the “Lord of the Ring” movie field. And then have a nice Cantonese style farewell dinner in the best Chinese restaurant in town. Tour will over after dinner finished, and we will go to check in hotel in the Christchurch town center.
D22, CHC—KL (B)
The departure day, take international flight back to sweet home.
