Learn about Indigenous dance and movements originating from communities located in southern Philippines.About this Event
Pangalay is an intuitive dance form originating from Indigenous communities in the Sulu Archipelago such as the Yakan, Sama, and Tausug Peoples in the southern Philippines. The movements depict ocean waves, coconut trees, seagulls and sea snails. During the workshop, we'll learn basic Pangalay movements while exploring imagery inspired by natural landscapes.
Participants will be guided through a sensory meditation, movement series and improvisation.
