Join us for a panel discussion with members of the Memphis-based artist collective 6 Points. The group is Sharon Havelka, Mary Jo Karimnia, Paula Kovarik, Carrol Harding McTyre, Jennifer Sargent, and Mary K VanGieson–six women artists whose exhibition at BAM celebrates their work to take up space at the intersections of their identities as women, as women born in the mid-century, as artists working in Tennessee, as artists working with craft disciplines, as parents and partners and educators.
“This exhibition asserts our presence, embracing elevated craftsmanship with conceptual depth as an intentional means of engaging with and reflecting on the world.”
– 6 Points Artist Collective
This discussion is open to the public and free to attend. An opening reception for "Taking Up Space," as well as "Stil/Leven, Still/Even" and "Echoes of Silent Migration" will immediately follow from 5-7pm.
