Who doesn't love pancakes?
And what better way to end a dip in Derwentwater than enjoying a freshly made pancakes, but the question is...what do you have on yours?
We will meet at the lake at 10am - What3words: tweaked.forgiven.husky
Head towards the Theatre by The Lake, walk past it, staying on the path above the railings all the way to the end bearing right round the corner and down to the bay that is opposite a house and driveway on your left.
We will not be doing any long distance, the weather and size of group will determine how far and how long we are in for, Abby is a qualified open water lifeguard but please do listen to any instructions Abby gives to ensure everyone stays safe.
New people are always made to feel welcome, so don't worry if it's your first time! On the day, we ask everyone attending to be kind to each other. It’s also important to listen to your bodies when in the water as we don't want you getting too cold. So if you are new to this, please let us know before hand so we can spend some time going over some things before getting in.
Whether you wear a wetsuit, swimming cossie, leggings and a t-shirt, shorts, woolly hat, gloves, boots, tankini, mankini or full on diver suit, all are welcome. We embrace all shapes and sizes.
Useful things to bring are a towel, a warm drink, a snack and warm clothes to change into. Some people find a hot water bottle useful or a changing robe, if you have one. We do not recommend using the hot water bottle directly against the body, this tricks the body into thinking it's warmer than it actually is and diverts the body away from shivering which the body does instinctively to warm itself up. Instead, use the bottle amongst your clothes in a bag to warm them up for when you get out.
Once we are all out, we will make some pancakes on an Alpkit stove with an array of toppings to choose from. The pancakes will not be vegan friendly, however we will have coffee on the go with dairy alternatives.
