Tis the Maple Syruping season! When the days are predicted to be above freezing and the nights are below the maple trees start pushing sap, prime for the tapping. After the sap is pulled the water is evaporated off and your left with the real maple syrup! At the Pancake Breakfast you will be able to try this delicious syrup on a pile of pancakes! As well as additional sides. After you finish your breakfast you will be able to see our large maple syrup evaporator and some of our maple syrup collection process. Dubuque County Conservation staff taps over 150 maple trees a year!
The Friends of Dubuque County Conservation financially support the maple syruping efforts at the Swiss Valley Preserve. This syruping process is used as an educational tool for school groups and the general public.
