🟥⬛️🟩 CITY OF NEWBURGH TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH RAISING OF PAN-AFRICAN FLAG 🟥⬛️🟩The City of Newburgh will host a flag raising ceremony on February 1, 2025 to usher in the start of Black History Month, and to recognize and celebrate the central role of Black and African Americans in shaping and strengthening America.
The Pan-African flag is a tri-color flag of three equal horizontal bands of red, black, and green, first adopted by Marcus Garvey’s UNIA-ACL organization in 1920 to represent people of the African Diaspora.
The flag raising ceremony will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Broadway Park, also known as Downing Vaux Park, located at the intersection of Broadway and Colden Street. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will be held at 245 Liberty Street, Newburgh, NY 12550.
