Palmyra performed on our stage this past July. We almost never host touring bands two years in a row, but we’re making an exception for this exceptional band. They recently signed with John Prine’s Oh Boy Records and have announced their debut album, “Restless,” which releases March 25 on vinyl and CD, so we couldn’t say no to catching this band before they get too big for our stage. We love this band so much that we’re opening our 2025 season earlier than usual just to catch them in the area. This is your chance to catch Palmyra in an intimate setting.
PALMYRA:
Established in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Palmyra captures the collective spirit of three Virginia natives: Teddy Chipouras, Mānoa Bell, and Sasha Landon.
Palmyra straddles at least two musical worlds. They are, on one hand, a band from the South that plays traditional instruments and indeed once lived in the old-time locus of Floyd, Virginia. Comparisons to and a kinship with The Avett Brothers and even Old Crow Medicine Show are inevitable. On the other hand, Palmyra writes about grief, gender dysphoria and identity, and coming of age in songs that flirt with soul, post-rock, and even emo; the South, too, is the place of My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, Cat Power, and now, Palmyra.
The band’s first full length LP, Restless, is out March 2025 on Oh Boy Records. Framed by moments of struggle, solidarity, and hard-won growth, Restless is an unqualified ringer for anyone who loves the space where the roar of indie rock collides with raw folk.
HOW TO JOIN US
You never need a ticket or a reservation to attend one of our concerts -- just show up. If we had a gate, it would open at 3pm. Feel free to show up earlier than that, even, if you just want to enjoy the weather, have a picnic, or just hang out The show will start at 4pm or shortly thereafter.
Doodad Farm never charges for entry to concerts, though we do request that those who are able (and you know who you are) donate at the stage area. Every penny of your donations goes straight to the performers. We think $20-$30 per person is a reasonable donation for this show. As always, we ask that you surprise yourself with your own generosity to support our performers. There will also be albums and other merch available, and that's a great way to support this band.
