This programme has been designed for Health Care Assistants & Support Workers working in Aged Residential Care or the community to improve their knowledge and understanding of palliative care.
The education is endorsed by Hospice New Zealand and a certificate will be awarded on completion of the programme.
- This workshop is 2 hours per session over 4 weeks and attendees must attend all 4 sessions to gain the Hospice NZ Palliative Care Certificate.
Topics covered include:
- Principles of palliative care
- Managing physical symptoms
- Care in the last days of life
- Communication
- Understanding loss and grief
- Spirituality and self-care
Target audience: Heath care assistants, Support workers and Caregivers working in rest homes & community homes
Max attendees 20: Early registration is advised.
Cost: No charge

Time: 1000 -1200 (Attendees are asked to arrive at least10 minutes early to sign in).

Car Parking: We kindly ask if you would please park on Suffolk Road, unless you need to park closer in the car park due to mobility. Please avoid parking near the Hospice’s main entrance on Piwakawaka Road as the road is too narrow for traffic to maneuver safely.
