About this Event
Pre-Concert Lecture - 6:30 pm
Long associated with the Sistine Chapel, Palestrina’s actual time in the choir was brief. He spent many more years as director of the St. Peter’s Basilica choir, the Cappella Giulia. This concert will feature music composed in the later years of his life between 1571 and his death in 1594. It will highlight his often-overlooked compositions for two choirs, featuring one of his loveliest eight-voice masses, along with motets and offertories.
