SATURDAY 10th August

Workshop 1 12.00 noon - 1.30 pm
Milonga (sharp ochos and traspié) Inter/Advanced

The milonga is said to be the most playful and rhythmic dance. Among the many variations we could learn by dancing milonga, the style traspié is quintessential for those who want to dance this rhythm properly. This workshop is aimed at those who love the milonga. In order to give everyone an accurate picture of the "sharp ochos", we are going to work on the structures admirably taught by Pepito Avellaneda adding some classic traspié exercises.
£20/person

Workshop 2 1.45 pm - 3.15 pm
Tango Milonguero (reduced space movements) Inter/Advanced

The Petitero Style, later called Milonguero Style, was born in the city center of Buenos Aires, and its name brings us back to the decade of the 1950's where the famous "confiterias" or tea rooms were full of couples, therefore, there were very little space to display large movements, making people adapt their dance to the small amount of space they had. This workshop will tackle some of the finest movements of the well-known milonguero “Petaca" who was very famous among the confiterias.

SUNDAY 11th August
Workshop 3 1.00 pm - 2.30 pm
Tango Orillero (the real deal) OPEN LEVEL

Tango is, among many other things, a skilled dance, that is to say, sharp movements are the essential part of a good interpretation when it comes to figures. It is very important to know what orquestra is the right one to dance this style, but before we carry on, we should ask ourselves: what does tango orillero mean?

Tango orillero is said to be the true manifestation of the tango dance in its early beginning, born in the outskirts of the old city of Buenos Aires, and developed in the milongas during the first part of the last century. Tango orillero is known for its style full of power and nuance. In this workshop, Luciano & Celeste will delight us by teaching movements from milongueros such as: Pepito Avellaneda and Puppy Castello.

Workshop 4 2.45 pm - 4.15 pm
Tango Salon (classic style) OPEN LEVEL

From the heart of the tango salon in Buenos Aires City the well-known Sunderland Club of Villa Urquiza founded in 1921, this venue has gathered in its walls the story of this unique style throughout the history of tango and the club itself. Important and exquisite milongueros have left their trademark dance steps imprinted in the dancefloor of the club. In later years the remarkable maestros Carlos Perez and Rosa Forte have taught an endless list of dancers from the new generations for more than 22 years. On this Occasion, Luciano & Celeste will share the knowledge that they have learned during their studies of Tango Salon at the Sunderland Club.
