Kira is an established NYC artist, currently living in Sarasota and painting under the name Kira Lee. Kira Lee has created a new form of pointillism using lyrics and words to form the portraits of iconic people and scenes.
Kira loved the idea of creating iconography by using connected typography. Using theories to outline horn-rimmed glasses. Song lyrics twisted and turned into locks of hair. Heart- aching poems carved into crow's feet. Culture-defining philosophies stitched into a silk robe. Gathering these beautiful writings and celebrating them collectively with something as dynamic as the artist's portrait creates. Breath-taking pieces that draw your attention and keep your gaze as time passes.
Kira has shown her art in L.A., NYC, London, New London, and at Art Basel in Miami to rave reviews. Her Bono painting has been featured in an exhibit at the prestigious Lyman Allyn Museum in New London, Connecticut, recognized as one of the best small museums in the United States.
Recently the ACA Gallery has taken her on as an artist and showcased her in an NYC show. The show, titled "Legends and Lyrics," highlighted over 30 of Kira's works and was huge. The pieces were paintings of the world's great rock legends using their lyrics to create the portraits. Kira's recent show Cartoons and Characters was featured at 212 Arts and were small works of famous cartoon characters.
