Join us at Latinx with Plants to learn about our favorite natural dye, the amazing cochinilla. Paint your very own custom pot with bugs!About this Event
Join us at Latinx with Plants in our backyard greenhouse for an exciting & fun workshop: Paint with Bugs!
This educational & beginner-friendly workshop will teach you new skills and stretch your creative muscles in a beautiful environment. Latinx with Plants owner & founder Andi Xoch will teach participants about the origins & history of cochinilla, an ancient bug which has been used as a natural dye for millennia. Each participant will be able to participate in making their own dye, and will use it to paint their very own custom plant pot. Once it's dry, everyone will get to create their own succulent arrangement inside to take home!
Bring a friend, a loved one, or just your creative energy -- and use this opportunity to support other small businesses in Boyle Heights & surrounding areas who are hurting from the impact of ICE raids in our communities. Grab a drink or grab a bite, and stop by for the workshop!
This event will be held outdoors in our backyard greenhouse, which can be a bit warm in the daytime, especially during the summer; please dress accordingly. Our backyard is somewhat ADA accessible, with a ramp leading out to the back, and the majority of the backyard is paved with gravel and covered in outdoor rugs, which can be hard for some folks to navigate. Please keep this in mind when RSVP'ing.
Please see the FAQ below for parking information.
