About this Event
Event Photos

Inspired by direct observation of nature, you'll draw and paint views across Hampstead Heath, overlooking the City of London, from Kenwood House (NW3 7JR), a Grade 1 listed, early 17th century, Georgian Villa.

& in the cafe if it's raining!

Following in the great artist’s footsteps, this is your chance to draw, paint, and be inspired by artists who painted landscapes, en plein air, and lived in Hamsptead. Including Constable, Romney, Ford Madox-Brown, Harold Gilman, Charles Ginner, Mark Gertler, Stanley Spencer, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Moholy-Nagy, Naom Gabo, Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, Mondrian, Ronald Penrose, Lee Miller, Schwitters and others....

Thinking about artist's experimental exploration and research, you develop your own thoughts, ideas and best pictorial composition, whilst drawing and painting in your own artistic style.

Depicting the feelings and enjoyment of being outside, working en plein air. Painting fleeting weather conditions, alla prima; “Skying”, light, tonal values, using white paint (“Constable’s Snow”); Small & full-sized preparatory studies, gridded-up sketches; Format - landscape or portrait; Colour palette, transparent layers of wash; Form, line, blocking-in shape; Mark-making, textures; Details from sky to pond, trees to house, buildings and figures; Edges; ‘Finish’

This is a 2 hour event with 1:2:1 tuition from professional artist’s mentor and fine art tutor Estelle Lovatt FRSA, mentoring you, to draw and paint in your own artistic style. Limited to 6 people.

Estelle brings a portfolio of images of Hamsptead landscapes to show you, discuss and illustrate the artist’s drawing and painting techniques and tips, to inspire your own artistic style.

To get the most from this special experience attend a minimum of 3-4 sessions.

Document the changing seasons from Spring through Summer, Autumn and Winter. Capture the changing weather conditions; rays of sunshine, the best clouds, shadows and double rainbows.

Please book subsequent dates on ‘Paint Hampstead Landscape, NW3, Heath, overlooking the City of London’ & in the cafe too if raining. I look forward to seeing you, with your drawings and paintings, on future sessions, to continue your 1:2:1 mentoring with me.
