This class will be led by painting instructors:
Zaneb Manzoor is a Pakistani artist based in New York City. Her practice spans landscapes and abstraction, exploring art as a space for healing, resilience, and transformation. Rooted in her own journey of reclaiming voice and freedom, she seeks to evoke openness and possibility through vibrant, unrestrained brushstrokes. Recently drawn to gouache for its luminous blends, she uses color and texture to create works that feel alive and liberating. Beyond her studio, Zaneb is a lawyer for the New York City government specializing in intellectual property and data privacy.
Hamna Shahnawaz is a Pakistani oil painter based in New York City. Her practice explores themes of womanhood, family, and memory, with a particular focus on belonging and the quiet beauty of everyday gestures. Through intimate, layered compositions, she creates spaces where personal histories intertwine with universal emotions. Rooted in a desire to capture both fragility and strength, her work invites reflection on the ties that connect us. Outside her studio, Hamna is a Ph.D. student in microbiology and immunology at Columbia University.
Pillars of Peace aims to create a trauma-informed organization that is based on an empowerment model of services which focus on cultivating an atmosphere of support and encouragement. Our mission and goals are rooted in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and we will continue to advocate for these basic rights on behalf of survivors of gender-based violence.
