In this immersive two-hour painting experience, you will step into the expressive world of Vincent van Gogh, discovering the raw emotion, movement, and vibrancy that defined his work.
Guided by multimedia artist Jayne Hopwood, you will create your own Van Gogh-inspired painting, capturing the essence of nature in a style that goes beyond realism—just as Van Gogh intended.
Van Gogh, a Post-Impressionist master, did not simply paint what he saw—he painted what he felt. His work was deeply personal, filled with bold, exaggerated brushstrokes, vivid, swirling colours, and a sense of movement that transcended traditional technique. He used paint to express mood, passion, and energy, allowing the landscape to take on a life of its own. His signature stylization, thick impasto strokes, directional mark-making, and pointillism techniques transformed ordinary scenes into emotional, evocative masterpieces.
In this guided painting session, you will:
Paint, fully immersed in the process, just as Van Gogh did.
Use gouache paints—a vibrant, water-based medium—to experiment with layering, texture, and bold colour contrasts.
Explore expressive mark-making, using movement, speed, directional brushwork, outlining, and pointillism to bring energy to your painting, just like the master himself.

This session is designed to be accessible and engaging for all skill levels, with full guidance provided. More than just an art class, it is an opportunity to connect with creativity, embrace self-expression, and experience the therapeutic power of painting.
