About this Event

You'll have the unique opportunity to paint your very own tile using a traditional Portuguese motif, and by the end of the experience, you'll walk away with two beautifully painted tiles that can serve as charming coasters in your home.

In addition to the hands-on experience, participants will gain valuable insights into the rich history of Portuguese tiles, with a brief presentation that explores the evolution of tile design and techniques throughout the centuries. Azulejo is a popular and traditional art form originating in Portugal and Spain that involves painting tiles. In this class, you can learn this beautiful art form and create your own azulejos!

If you're new to painting or unsure about your artistic abilities, fear notβ€”this workshop is designed for all levels, and you'll receive guidance every step of the way. The cozy and inviting setting will inspire creativity and provide a relaxed atmosphere for you to explore this traditional art form.During the workshop, you'll work with a special paint specific for glazed tiles that is fast-drying, allowing you to take the tile home the same day as the workshop.

Immerse yourself in this enriching activity as you discover the beauty of Portuguese tiles and the joy of painting them. Your two hand-painted tiles will not only be a memento of your experience but also a lovely addition to your living space, showcasing your newfound skills and the cultural heritage of Portugal.

What you'll get

The instructor will provide two bisque tiles to paint in the class. For this workshop students will take the tiles home with instructions on how to "bake" then on their home oven.

About the Instructor:

Ana Sofia, is the founder and designer of Alzuleycha. Born and raised in Lisbon, this city's vibrant energy and rich history is her muse.Throughout her studies and career in interior design and architecture, she witnessed Lisbon's evolution firsthand. While cities grow, it's important to preserve their architectural heritage. That's why Ana Sofia founded Alzuleycha – to celebrate the beauty of traditional Portuguese architecture with a modern twist.
