Welcome drummer Paige Iavelli as she presents an evenings concert showcasing works from the New Standards: 101 lead sheets by women composers. Afterwards, pianist Keith Brown will host this week's 2nd Set Jam Session.

Paige Iavelli was born and raised in Ramona, California. She was drawn to the drums at a very young age and began weekly lessons at age 5 with Marcus Descartin and Dove Linkhorn which continued until she graduated high school. She gigged around the San Diego area with a local rock/blues group starting when she was 13. Now at the U of O as a Jazz Major, she has studied under Ken Mastrogiovanni, Gary Hobbs, Micah Brusse, Devin Bretz, Steve Owen, Paul Krueger, Joe Manis, and Keith Brown to further improve her craft. She plays a variety of styles including Jazz, Latin, Blues, Funk, Hip-hop, and more.
Eli Hansen is an upright and electric bassist, synthesist, and educator from Roseburg, Oregon. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in the Jazz Studies program at the University of Oregon and is an active member of the Pacific Northwest music scene. As a freelance musician, he has worked with artists such as Julia Logue, Neil Gregory Johnson, Joe Manis, Roger Woods, Golden Boy, and The Graduating Class. Additionally, he has been featured in groups such as the University of Oregon Wind Ensemble, the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, JazzArts Oregon, and the Eugene Concert Choir.
Delos Leo Erickson is a pianist, composer, educator and performing artist with a diverse musical background. Currently receiving his Masters degree at UO's Jazz Studies program, Delos strives to be in the moment with every note played. With experience in teaching, Delos has taught at multiple camps, has a studio of students, and has led many bands under his name. He is currently studying under Keith Brown, Steve Owen, and Paul Krueger. Currently, he is a member of the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, and the JazzArts Oregon combo.
Born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California, Avery Scanlon is a guitarist, composer, and arranger. Son of reputable Los Angeles woodwind player Brian Scanlon. In 2016, Avery began his collegiate studies at Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where he studied with guitarist Bob Sneider. In 2018, Avery transferred to California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California, where he studied with guitarist Larry Koonse and graduated with a BFA in Jazz Guitar (2020). Avery also attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, where he concurrently pursued a MM in Jazz Studies (2022) and taught as a graduate teaching assistant in the Jazz Studies and Popular Music areas.
Morgan Cross has been performing on trombone from a young age, and remains an amateur musician despite her current unaffiliation with any group. She has been involved with multiple ensembles hosted by the UO school of music in the time since she moved from Chicago to attend high school in Eugene.
Olivia Fields is an up-and-coming saxophonist and composer from Portland, Oregon. A recent graduate of Willamette University and a current Master's student at the University of Oregon, Olivia's sound is rooted in both bebop and contemporary jazz traditions. Her melody-driven compositions draw inspiration from the natural world and reflect its constant state of change.
Originally from San Jose, CA, alto saxophonist Ben Harris is a jazz studies major at the University of Oregon. While in Eugene, Ben has studied saxophone with Idit Shner and Steve Owen, as well as flute with Dr. Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington. Ben regularly performs at the Jazz Station and Beall hall with the University of Oregon honors combos and the Oregon Jazz Ensemble. He also performs regularly in the Eugene/Springfield area with the salsa band Descarga 54, in addition to his trio.
Zoë Pouliot is a Junior music student at the University of Oregon. She is from the New Orleans area and has had formal training in many vocal styles consisting of jazz, musical theatre, choral singing, classical voice, and gospel. She has worked in theaters across the country and is well versed in technical work with experience ranging from stage handing to directing. Most recently she taught at the Hummingbird Music School in San Francisco teaching classic rock to children ages 6-14. She worked as house manager at Oregon Contemporary Theatre and has been stage manager at The John G Shedd Institute for the Arts since 2022.
