Song is an energy force, it is part of the creative energy of the universe channelled through the human voice, and there are many ancient myths and stories that emphasise this. It is only natural therefore that many of us Pagans want to sing.Singing and chanting is good for healing when you're feeling down, good for celebrating and welcoming the spirits of nature as you walk through the land and can also add something to a ritual or ceremony when practised by a confident singer.
In this circle, we will gather together and learn how to overcome any shyness or nervousness we have around singing, either alone by ourselves or as part of a group, learn about the importance of breathing and vocal range and how we can use gesture as a means of helping our spirit flow so that we can sing confidently and clearly, culminating in a number of simple basic chants and songs that we can then take out into the world, either sung at home or in company with others.
"You are here - life exists, the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?" - John Keating in "Dead Poets Society" (played by the late Robin Williams)
