Paediatric First Aid - One Day Blended Course with E-Learning to be completed PRIOR TO FACE TO FACE
For: All childcare practitioners
Course length: 12 Hours total (6 hours E-learning & 6 hours face to face)

WE WILL NOT ISSUE REFUNDS IF YOU FAIL TO COMPLETE THE E-LEARNING ON TIME. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PRACTICAL SESSION IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE E-LEARNING.
For this course delegates will receive two certificates:-
- The first is the for the E-learning module that is competed before the practical element of the course, this certificate can be downloaded directly from the E-learning portal.
- The second certificate is for the whole qualification and will be sent out via e-mail 4-6 weeks after completion of the practical element. Please note certificates are sent out in bulk and therefore your full name will be visible to all delegates on the course; none of your other details will be visible.

Course Aim:
To introduce first aid to learners who have children and babies in their care and to enable them to recognise and respond to a paediatric emergency
STAGE 1 - E-Learning
(Must be completed otherwise you will not be able to attend the practical session)
E-Learning Content: Introduction and Objectives, Role of a First Aider, Managing an Emergency, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Choking, Shock, Seizures, Asthma, Poisons, Diabetes, Chest Pain, Wounds and Bleeding, Burns, Extremes of Heat and Cold
E-Learning Assessment: E-Learning end-of-course theory assessment consisting of 27 x multiple-choice questions
STAGE 2 - Face to Face Practical Session - you cannot attend unless the E-Learning module has been passed - refunds will not be issued for not completing E-learning
One-Day of Tutor-led practical training covering: Understanding the role and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider Inc. Scene Assessment & Priorities, Managing an unresponsive child & infant who is breathing (Recovery Position), Managing an unresponsive child & infant who is not breathing(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation [CPR] and AED), Choking, Anaphylaxis & Auto-injectors – including practical scenarios with training model adrenaline auto-injectors (epi-pen, jext and emerade), Hypovolemic Shock recognition and treatment, Seizures inc. Febrile convulsions & Epilepsy, Management of Wounds and bleeding, Eye injuries, Foreign bodies Eyes; Ears; Noses, Bites and Stings, Electric shock recognition and response, Medical Conditions; Sickle cell; Revision of Diabetes/Hypoglycaemia (Low Blood Sugar); Meningitis.
Practical Skills Assessment: including scene assessment, recovery position, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of the AED, choking and casualty management, Ongoing informal assessment throughout, including end-of-unit quick quizzes during, eLearning and a number of activities during classroom-based training including questions and answers, group activities, case studies and scenarios.
It is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) that at least one person who has a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings.
This courser covers the course content as for Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2021,Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines 2021, First Aid Manual (11th edition) of the Voluntary Aid Societies, Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Millie’s Mark Criteria.
